Shot in and around the Wijnland auto Museum in Cape Town, where vintage cars go to die, photographer Peter Beavis shot these gorgeous images. Free spirited, young, sexy and wild. Styled by me.
With the streets as our backdrop, and the 90s as our inspiration, so began another inspiring project. Shot by Sven Kristian, he added his eye of artistry into the equation by choosing textured backdrops and cascading skylines to give the shoot the right balance of street style tonality and lighting that it deserved. Gina Gilpin, our amazing model from Boss, had the perfect effortless edge and vibrancy to channel the mood and era. Natalie Kitshoff offset natural makeup with spritzed hair to add the right balance to this “out of the gym and onto the streets” look.
After recently starting a clothing label of my own, D|coy street and thrift, my styling was focused on taking retro inspired activewear and streetwear and mixing them up with seasonal trends like tartan, print on print, navy and vintage denim pieces.

After getting back from the Drakensberg mountains in Natal a few days ago I’m still flying high from the fresh mountain air, altitude and mountain adventures. Few jobs provide the opportunity to stay in a hotel surrounded by panoramic mountains, go on trail runs and horse rides through the mountains and (personal favourite) get to fly in a helicopter to a waterfall sitting in a Lord of the Rings landscape. What an experience! Oh and lets not forget work. Between all of the adventure we were shooting for Merrell, the hiking and outdoor shoe brand. With cutting edge and colourful designs as well as a surprisingly colourful ladies outdoor trail running range (which I had my magpie eyes fixed on) and techie guys outdoor apparel, Merrell ticks all the boxes.
So thanks to the amazing Merrell team from the States, photographer extraordinaire Fredrik Clement, the awesome local crew who gelled together so well, and Magic Mountain Productions for yet another amazing experience that I get to call work. Behind the scenes pics coming up …
