Season in Cape Town flies by at warp speed, with hardly any time to reflect on what’s gone on from one job to the next. As a stylist you get booked on a multitude of different genre jobs from fashion campaigns, commercials and catalogues to prop styling. The Spring Summer 2015 kids campaign was one where I did the props styling, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now in winter, with time to reflect and grey skies outside, it’s inspiring to see how bright pops of colour and pantone swatches turned into electric painted beach huts, colourful bunting and bright surfboards for the beach shoot, whilst a more pastel country palate combined with fabric tee pees, large windmills, flowers and carts featured in the country version of the campaign. I even got to work with my goddaughter Maia (in the blue jumpsuit) for the country shoot. Doing kids props is really fun and whimsical and takes one back to the playful thought process of being a child. I really had fun with this one.
